民國91年時，大考中心公佈了別的一份由台大外文系鄭恆雄教授等人所研製的「高中英文參考字彙表」，跟87年版的字彙表比較起來，增添了很多新字，也刪掉很多較冷僻艱深 翻譯單字，這份字表並沒有依照利用頻率佈列，而是依照難易度分為六級，每級1080字，均依照字母挨次佈列，六級共約六千五百字， 大約等於目前所謂 翻譯指考七千字，如果只算前面四級的話，則約四千三百字，大約等於今朝所謂的的學測四千字，不外這份字表並未將許多根基的衍生字列入，如~ed, ~ly, ~ing 翻譯公司 ~ion 翻譯公司 ~ness 翻譯公司 ~less, ~ment等字尾的單字，若是將這些衍生字都列入的話，保守估量，總字數最少會膨脹到七千五百字閣下。
